Our Products
AS&K offers a variety of assessment tools for critical jobs in key industries. Clients use these tools to assist with many human capital decisions including decisions to hire, promote, and assess training needs or mastery. The assessment tools are based upon the tasks, skills, and knowledge stored in the AS&K competency library. AS&K’s industrial psychologists use the library and job analysis methods to create customized assessment tools quickly and easily.
Work Experience Questionnaires
Prior work experience is one of the best predictors of future job
performance. Job candidates who have little or no previous work
experience are less likely to be successful on the job than those
with greater experience. Work experience information from resumes is
often inaccurate and difficult to quantify. Job candidates who
provide responses to a set of critical job tasks, skills, and
knowledge indicate their job experience and readiness more
accurately and in a quantifiable manner. The AS&K Business Work
Experience Questionnaire (WEQ) provides managers with better
information than resumes to judge which candidate is best suited for
a job.
Alone or in combination with a Structured Interview, the WEQ
improves employee selection decisions.
AS&K Business Consulting Services are available to provide organizations with customized solutions.
Training Evaluations
Leaders of training organizations are challenged with the need to demonstrate – quantitatively - the impact of their services to the organization (see white paper). In the training profession, a commonly recognized set of training evaluation criteria are Kirkpatrick’s four levels – satisfaction, gains in skill mastery, improvement in job performance, and financial impact or ROI. AS&K Business offers solutions for all of Kirkpatrick’s four levels of training evaluation. Using the AS&K Business self-service or full-service software system, trainees rate their satisfaction with the learning experience (e.g., classroom instruction, e-learning) to provide Level 1 evaluation data. Trainees or their supervisors rate the trainee on a set of critical tasks, skills, and knowledge that indicate the trainee’s level of mastery. The assessment can be used prior to training, after-training, or both to obtain data for Levels 2, 3, and 4 training evaluation. AS&K Business Consulting Services are available to provide business intelligence and statistical analyses to gain deeper insights into the training program’s impact on the organization.
Structured Interviews
Countless studies demonstrate that structured interviews are superior to informal interviews. Many more correct hiring and selection decisions are made when the questions in the interview are standardized and related to critical job tasks, skills, and knowledge. The AS&K Business Interview Guides contain sets of questions and probes associated with critical tasks, skills, and knowledge required to perform successfully on the job. This web-based Interview Guide and rating tools can be delivered alone or in combination with a Work Experience Questionnaire (WEQ) to improve employee selection decisions. AS&K Business Consulting Services are available to provide organizations with customized solutions.
Training Needs Analysis
One of the most important reasons why training fails to have a positive impact on the business is because learning content doesn’t focus on critical tasks, skills, and knowledge – the right stuff. A best practice (see white paper) for learning organizations is to track employees’ mastery of critical tasks, skills, and knowledge so that course content and curricular offerings address the needs of the organization. The tracking and reporting provides learning managers and leaders with invaluable training needs information. The AS&K Business library of critical tasks, skills, and knowledge provide the content for needs analysis assessment and the self-service or full service software solution provides an easy method to deliver and report results. AS&K Business Consulting Services are available to provide business intelligence and statistical analyses to gain deeper insights into the training needs of the organization.
Workforce Planning & Analysis
Mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and downsizing have a substantial
impact on the human capital of an organization. Work force planners
and organizational leaders are rarely able to measure the impact of
these changes to the organization. The AS&K Business library of
critical tasks, skills, and knowledge provide the content for skill
gap assessments and the self-service or full-service software
solution provides an easy method to deliver and report results. A
sample of employees rate tasks, skills, and knowledge that are
compared to performance standards (e.g., average ratings of top
performers) indicating skill gaps for individuals and groups (e.g.,
departments, regions, job levels). AS&K Business Consulting Services
are available to provide business intelligence and statistical
analyses to gain deeper insights into changes in the organization’s
human capital.
Program Evaluation
Leaders of organizations who implement new programs and who wish to assess the impact on business process are challenged with an easy and accurate method to demonstrate – quantitatively - the impact of their new program. AS&K Business offers the solution. The AS&K Business library of critical tasks, skills, and knowledge provide the business process content for assessments of the impact and the self-service or full-service software solution provides an easy method to deliver and complete assessments and gain access to program evaluation reports. AS&K Business Consulting Services are available to provide business intelligence and statistical analyses to gain deeper insights into the program’s impact on the organization.
PACS (Paramedic Assessment of Critical Skills) & PACK (Paramedic Assessment of Critical Knowledge
AS&K, Inc., working closely with Stamford EMS, recently completed development of two web-based paramedic assessments to assist EMS organizations in the selection, development and performance evaluation of paramedics. The Paramedic Assessment of Critical Skills (PACS) enables managers, supervisors, paramedic job applicants or paramedics on your staff to rate skill mastery for seven sets of critical paramedic skills. Results are available online immediately. The Paramedic Assessment of Critical Knowledge (PACK) is administered in the same way as PACS but PACK is comprised of 17 categories of commonly required paramedic knowledge. Hiring managers can use the PACS or PACK Interview Guides to interview and then rate the job applicants on the same PACS skills or PACK knowledge that the job applicants rated.
